The test allows you to identify the structure of the fur: smooth, broken or rough. The symptom is common in terriers.



The test also reveals a fur-like "muzzle outline": the length of the fur around the chin, muzzle and above the eyes. A coarse fur with a long muzzle outline (Wh w (F) allele) is dominant for smooth short fur coat (wh + (f) allele).



Allele designation:

Whw or F : W ire h < / b> air (hard hair) - w ired (hard) or F urnished - long fur on the face.

Wh+ or f : W ire h < / b> air (hard hair) - + (soft) or non- f urnished - short fur on the face.



With regard to the structure of the fur, the alleles show incomplete dominance, therefore the genotypes differ in the following features:

Wh w Wh w (FF) : rough fur, long on the muzzle;

Wh w Wh + (Ff) : broken fur, long on the muzzle;

Wh + Wh + (ff) : smooth fur, short on the muzzle.
