Description
Hemophilia type B is a blood disorder associated with a deficiency of factor IX. It manifests itself as a blood clotting disorder and, as a result, bleeding that is difficult to stop. Caused by various mutations in the F9 gene depending on the breed. The disease has a sex-linked inheritance and is more common in males.

Mutations in the F9 gene lead to a disruption of the first phase in the cascade of blood coagulation reactions due to the impossibility of thromboplastin formation.

Inheritance linked to the X chromosome, in connection with which males get sick more often.

Symptoms
As a result of factor IX deficiency, blood does not clot for several hours, and as a result, anemia may develop. Symptoms are not as severe as those of hemophilia A, but they can also cause life-threatening bleeding, including during tooth extraction, surgery, and even minor injuries.

Diagnostics
Characteristic changes in the behavior and physiology of the dog.
