Description
Lethal acrodermatitis of bull terriers (LAD) is an autosomal recessive congenital disorder that occurs in bull terriers. Clinically, LAD manifests itself as stunted growth, behavioral abnormalities, and progressive acrodermatitis (deformity, hyperkeratosis, and secondary infections of the distal paws). Affected puppies are not only prone to skin infections, they can suffer from chronic diarrhea, pneumonia and die at an early age from sepsis. Pathology, as a rule, develops in the age range from 6 months to 2 years (lethal age).
