Hereditary diseases

Description
Symptoms usually appear around 6 to 12 months of age. Affected dogs develop dry, rough, gray to brown corneous crusts on the surface and rim of the nose, causing excessive drying, chronic irritation and inflammation of the nasal skin. In some cases, painful fissures form around and at the tip of the nose. If untreated, superficial bacterial infections develop. Over time, there is a depigmentation of the skin of the nose from dark to light color. The disease is not life threatening, but it requires constant care throughout the dog's life.
