Description
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is the general name for a group of retinal diseases that damage photoreceptor cells (rods and cones) until their death.

Progressive retinal atrophy PRA-CNGA1 occurs in both eyes simultaneously. Retinal atrophy develops quite late, on average at 5 years old, some cases of the appearance of the first signs were found in dogs aged 2 to 11 years.

Symptoms
The initial symptoms resemble slow-onset sheltie retinopathy (SPR), but retinopathy develops more slowly, even in dogs over 10 years of age, and does not lead to complete blindness.
