Description
Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) is a group of inherited eye diseases that affect some dog breeds, including Basenji. It is characterized by the gradual destruction of photoreceptors, rods and cones, which leads first to night blindness and tunnel syndrome, and then to complete loss of vision. The disease begins to manifest itself at about 5 years of age. Basenji's progressive retinal atrophy is recessive.
