Curly CU2 mutation has been described for the Curly Coated Retriever, but also occurs along with the CU1 mutation in the Lagotto Romagnolo, Bichon Frize, Spanish Water Dog, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Irish Terrier, Moody, Standard Poodle, no mutation found in other breeds ... It has an incomplete dominance character - only one copy of the CU2 variant is required for the formation of curly hair. However, due to incomplete dominance, dogs with only one copy of the CU2 variant (CU2 / cu2) may have wavy or moderately frizzy coats. Dogs with a cu2 / cu2 genotype will have a straight coat, dogs with a CU2 / CU2 genotype will usually have a very curly coat.
