Hereditary diseases

Description
A hereditary disease in dogs that develops as a result of impaired absorption of the amino acid cystine in the kidney tubules. As a result, cystine crystals and stones are formed in the bladder and kidneys. Normally, during the process of reabsorption, cystine is absorbed back into the blood. With cystinuria (with impaired reabsorption), an abnormally high content of this amino acid in the urine is noted. For cystine, dissolution in urine is uncharacteristic. Cystinuria in males is very dangerous. This is due to the presence of a long, narrow urethra and, as a result, to increased irritation and blockage. The disease can be complicated by blockage of urination, bacterial infections, kidney failure, bladder rupture.
